Get ready to relive the past & “rock on” to the music of this popular, local rock band from the 60's & 70's. COCOON started in 1967 with a few young, Brookings boys playing rock cover tunes in their parent’s garage. The band consisted of Eric Wilson Adams, lead singer, Lyle Behrend, drummer, Tom Barnes, bass guitar, Mike Barnes, lead guitar, and Wayne Myers, keyboard and vocals. During the 1970s they traveled the state, in their monster green bus, to many school proms, auditoriums, and bars. Cover tunes included songs by The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, James Gang, Jethro Tull, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Temptations, YES, BB King, Chicago, and many others. Each went their separate way in music. Lyle Behrend received his Masters Degree in Music and became a teacher. Tom Barnes is currently playing in Reno, Nevada with the ever popular Blues Monsters. Eric Wilson Adams continues to write and promote his own tunes. He says it is fun singing in casino’s looking out over all the "other" blue hair in the audience. The last time COCOON reunited was in 2002 to perform at the Brookings Summer Arts Festival and a Brookings High School reunion party for the class of 1972.
